Learn about NSW Competency Cards
NSW RSA photo competency cards are a necessary requirement for work related to responsible service of alcohol in NSW (SITHFAB002 – Provide responsible service of alcohol). The competency card was introduced in 2011 and hold a validity date of 5 years from the date of issue.
A NSW RSA competency card is very important and must be presented if required to by a police officer or Liquor & Gaming NSW (OLGR) inspector.
Once you receive your interim certificate you will need to make arrangements to visit a service centre to obtain your competency card. You have 90 days from the date your interim certificate was issued to obtain your competency card. If 90 days have passed and you have not obtained your competency card, you will no longer be able to work in a venue using only your interim certificate. However, you can still use the interim certificate to obtain your competency card.
NSW RSA competency cards are valid for a period of 5 years from date of issue. Liquor & Gaming NSW (OLGR) established the competency card requirement in 2011 which means the very first competency cards issued are due to expire this year.
